Google trends about shopping carts show a steady decline prior to 2009. When the decline of the US economy started to plateau have experienced some moderate peaks, the search for shopping carts just exploded. More and more individuals have started to realise that having a 9 to 5 job – even when you are employed with a top car manufacturer – is not guaranteed for life. Interestingly enough, internet entrepreneurs who made it big before and during the financial crisis, have started to come out and teach those who are interested that they can do the same as well. Some of these who really made it big came from the affiliate marketing industry. The trend after making an absurd amount of cash is to join the blogging industry where they made another ton of cash. So they came out with their own products. And these are products that are manily geared in showing how to make money online. Some of these products teaches on how to open up your own affiliate store; others show that the way to riches is to have your own product i.e. an ebook tutorial on fishing and selling them online. And off course when you want to sell something online, you’ll most likely need a shopping cart.

As the trend shows, there is a great demand for shopping carts. The assumption of the trend is that people searching for shopping carts would want to have a shopping cart for their website. Because of this we have decided to create another category for shopping carts as we do not think it will fit in the WordPress plugin review category. With WordPress, you can create a shopping cart by installing a plugin or a set of plugins, or you can install a shopping cart product that comes with its own themes and plugins. This section is then more likely to be a combination of a review and a tutorial about WordPress shopping carts.
