WordPress plugins never cease to amaze me. I came from a .NET development environment and yet the more I use WordPress for rapid website development the more I get excited.
One of the requirements of a prospective client is to have a logon screen for her wedding website so that her guest can login and access the gift Registry page and the Contact Us page. With a very limited budget, I thought it would be impossible to prepare a quote for her… until I saw a plugin called Peter’s Login Redirect. This plugin uses the security module of WordPress which means that you can create a user in WP, and once their login is succesful then you can redirect them to the right page! You can have different pages for different users as well.
Once I have installed and activated the plugin, all i need to do is go to the Settings panel and click on the Login Redirect item. This loads the Manage login redirect rules page. The first section there is For Specific Users which means that redirection only applies to the user selected. On the Add selection, select the user you want to be redirected to a page. Then add the URL you want the user to go to in the URL field. Click the Update button and you are ready for testing!
To test, just go to yourdomain.com/wp-admin (substitute yourdomain.com with your domain name). Once you have logged in successfully, it should redirect you to the URL you have specified earlier.
Works in tandem with Exclude Pages From Navigation plugin. Most likely, you would not like to show the redirected page from the main menu.
