Add A Business Directory To Your Site

Having a business directory to your site can improve your site’s SERP rankings – especially if your directory grows every week! And the beauty about having a business directory is that you do not have to think of what to add to it – you get others to submit their details!

A free WordPress plugin that can do that for you is the Connections plugin. What makes this plugin easy to use is that it has a separate menu bar just below the Settings menu. Configuring is easy as well once you install and activate the plugin. You get to specify image specific configuration in the Connections | Settings menu. This is where you also specify where unregistered visitors and users can also view entries.

The Categories menu allows you to organize the directory. If you plan to put up a directory of doctors, for example, you can create categories like dentists, surgeons, etc. Which basically means for the dentists page you can just show listings of dentists, and for the surgeons page only surgeons, and so on and so forth. You can do this by specifying the shorts codes i.e. on each page.

The Add Entry menu is where you add your records. And you can also specify more fields if needed. Overall, this plugin does the basic job of a directory listing and is a good deal.
