Apple is known for its high quality of innovation and design. By having a WordPress plugin that is designed “the Apple way” you get the best of both world – and a really superb plugin. And this was the main driving force for the developer, Nikolay Karev, of the UserNoise plugin.
In this interview, he tells us more about his plugin and where it is heading.

1 – What motivated you to develop your plugin?
I was pretty bored by coding yet-another-marketing-site’s for my clients and wanted to create something based on my own vision. And, remembering almost every client wants a “contact us” form, I decided to put together a solution that would resolve the problem “the Apple way”.
2 – Describe your plugin and explain to our readers how it will benefit their website?
Usernoise allows visitors to submit their opinion really easily, and works “out of the box” in most cases, without any coding skills required from site owner. And, PRO version adds popular feedback lists, discussions and unique debugging features thus competing with existing hosted solutions, but for a much lower price.
3 – What differentiates your plugin from others in the same category
Good design, I would tell. Not only form aesthetics standpoint, but, the whole workflow and user experience. As I told – I made my best to make it working “the Apple way”.
4 – What are your future plans with this plugin?
I am receiving a never-ending stream of feature requests, so Usernoise is under heavy development at the moment. Closest future plans are pure HTML5 design with as few images used as possible, and cleaner admin navigation / workflow for the Pro version. I also received a lot of requests for a standalone version, so I am considering creating it and porting Usernoise to other CMSs.
5 – How do you monetize this plugin?
PRO version is available at CodeCanyon (http://codecanyon.net/item/usernoise-pro-advanced-modal-feedback-debug/1420436?ref=karevn), and at the moment it sales really well, making me Top-3 author of January and giving the motivation to continue the development.
6 – What are the different advertising / marketing methods for your plugin?
Actually, I think that a good product sells itself, all you need is to show it to a couple of right people. At the moment, I am only exposing a free version at WordPress plugin directory (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/usernoise/), and it seems to work – Usernoise was downloaded over 20000 times in less than half a year without a cent spent for marketing.
7 – What advice would you give our readers if they want to develop their own plugin?
“Think well if anyone will need it, really”.
